Astronomers to Send Submarine to Titan

The solar system consists of the sun, earth, several other planets, and their respective satellites. Life exists only on planet earth. However, space scientists and astrobiologists tend to believe that life may in fact exist on other planets or their satellites. The distance between the earth and Saturn keeps changing. However, when the two planets are closest to each other, this distance is approximately 1.2 billion kilometers. Saturn’s satellite Titan presents an interesting scenario. Astronomers have detected water as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on Titan. Besides these, it also harbors organic molecules such as liquid methane and ethane. Whether or not life can exist under these conditions on Titan remains to be seen. For this very reason, space scientists are planning to send a submarine to explore the vast seas of Titan. Who knows? Some extremely bizarre life forms that can easily survive in liquid methane or ethane may in fact exist on this mysterious satellite. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and let’s hope to find interesting life forms on Titan. I can hardly wait. How about you?

Pentagon’s UFO Unit asked to Share UFO Intel

Pentagon’s now defunct unit that has gathered massive intelligence on unidentified flying objects over the past several years, will now be sharing some of its classified reports with the U.S. taxpayers. The U.S. Senate has specifically asked Pentagon to declassify bits of information and share the related findings with the public. According to a government report, the UFO unit’s activities included standardizing the collection and reporting on sightings of unexplained aerial vehicles. Over the past several years, the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force had been monitoring and documenting UFO activity. Although the unit had been watching out for UFOs from outer space, its primary objective was to gather intelligence pertaining to advanced aerial surveillance and military technologies developed by U.S. adversaries such as Russia and China. So let’s keep our fingers crossed. I can’t wait to see classified UFO videos and photos. How about you? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.

Solar Orbiter photographs Solar Explosions

The European Space Agency’s and NASA’s Solar Orbiter has started transmitting high-resolution photographs of the solar surface and super hot corona. Small-scale explosions never seen before have been digitally captured by the Orbiter spacecraft. At present, the spacecraft is about 77 million miles away from the Sun. The digitally captured tiny solar explosions or nanoflares are very similar to solar flares, except for their overall magnitude. When large solar flares explode, they release energy equivalent to that released by billions of nuclear weapons. Contrary to scientists’ expectations, the sun’s atmosphere, or Corona, is hotter than the Sun’s surface. Whereas the surface of the Sun can reach temperatures of several thousand degrees, the Sun’s atmosphere or the solar corona can easily reach temperatures of the order of millions of degrees. One way to explain this apparent discrepancy is to investigate the exact mechanism through which the solar flares explode and spit out massive amounts of energy into the sun’s atmosphere, thereby heating up the corona up to a million degrees. The Orbiter spacecraft has been deployed to undertake studies of huge astronomical significance.

What’s a Partial Penumbral Lunar Eclipse?

Enjoy gazing at the sky? Videonium likes it too. Make sure you subscribe to Videonium for more such videos. Are you in love with the moon? Yup, I knew it. Watching lunar eclipses is an extremely enjoyable activity for many. So today, let’s see, what exactly happens during a lunar eclipse. When the moon, the earth, and the sun are perfectly aligned as shown in this illustration, we experience a total lunar eclipse. When this alignment is not perfect, we get to see a full moon partial penumbral lunar eclipse. So go ahead and enjoy watching the lunar eclipse this weekend. By the way, galactic events like the one on the fourth of July are greener and more eco-friendly than the fireworks displays on planet earth. Hit the like button if you enjoyed watching this video and make sure you click on the NASA link in the description below. https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/news/1328/july-2020-the-next-full-moon-is-the-buck-moon/

Gigantic Black Hole Discovered

Space scientists at the Australian National University have been able to detect a gigantic black hole. The massive black hole, designated as J2157, is 34 billion times heavier than the sun. It is about 8,000 times bigger than the black hole situated at the center of the Milky Way. This gigantic black hole consumes the equivalent of 1 sun every day for lunch. Another black hole that is millions of times heavier than the sun, is approaching our planet at 110 kilometers per second. It is located at the center of the Andromeda galaxy and is going to destroy earth one day. When that happens, there will no life left on our planet, according to space scientists.

NASA’s $51 Million grant for innovation

The National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) would be giving away $51 million in the form of research grants to small businesses that show a potential to come up with remarkable scientific ideas. More than 300 small businesses would be able to get these grants. Each grant would pay the business up to $125,000 during Phase I. The grant would be focusing on the commercial viability of the proposed innovation. Grant awardees who show huge promise during Phase I, would be eligible for a larger grant during Phase II. Prospective grant applicants are requested to visit the NASA webpage in the description below. Earth’s Weakening Magnetic Field

The magnetic field of planet earth is weakening at present according to reports published by the European Space Agency’s SWARM mission. The earth’s core comprises molten iron and nickel. This rotating, convecting, and electrically conducting fluid produces a magnetic field that extends into space, according to the dynamo theory. Earth’s magnetic field shields us from cosmic rays and harmful solar particles. The weakening of earth’s magnetic field may affect this shielding process to some extent. It may also cause technical problems in spacecrafts and satellites passing over the South Atlantic Anomaly, an area where the earth’s inner Van Allen radiation belt comes closest to the earth’s surface, dipping down to an altitude of 200 kilometres (120 miles). Keep checking ESA’s webpage for further updates on this and be the first to share this video with your network.

Sun Lockdown in 2020?

Is the Sun going into a lockdown? It is, according to astronomer Dr. Tony Phillips. Make sure you check out the link in the description below. But then, does it mean that we will be seeing lots of famines, droughts, and freezing temperatures? Do we need to start worrying? Is it going to snow heavily during the summer? No, not really! NASA has not made any official announcement as of now. So what exactly is happening on the surface of the Sun? Well, let’s go over it real quick. Dr. Tony Phillips, a professional astronomer, has pointed out that the sun’s magnetic field has decreased in strength, which means that more cosmic rays will be entering the solar system. This can adversely affect the electrochemistry of the earth’s upper atmosphere and it poses a huge health risk to astronomers. The number of sunspots has decreased dramatically in the year 2020. But there’s really nothing to worry about, according to NASA. This happening is not new at all, and no, the world is definitely NOT ending. We are basically heading towards a minimum in the 11-year solar cycle. At the most, what will happen is that the decrease in temperature will simply offset the increase caused by human activity in recent years. So don’t worry guys, the Sun is not going on a lockdown anytime soon. So relax, exercise, sleep well, eat well, and #staysafe. See you later.
