Bacteria Vs. Cancer

Using Bacteria to Deliver Medicines

Problem: Medicines do not get absorbed well through passive diffusion. Scientists worldwide are trying to address this issue

Approach: Virginia Tech researchers tried using bacteria to deliver nanomedicines

Result: Anticancer nanomedicines got delivered with a 100-fold higher efficiency

Explanation: Bacteria are able to cross cell membranes easily. Therefore, the bacterial machinery was intelligently hacked for nanomedicine delivery. Medicinal nanoparticles were attached to bacteria and the results were astonishing. Clever design! Congrats to the Virginia Tech team
