MIT’s Smartphone-Controlled Drug Delivery Capsule

MIT researchers have successfully designed a bluetooth-controlled edible capsule. This smart/3-D-printed edible capsule stays in the stomach for about 30 days. The unique Y-shaped design helps it attach itself to the stomach. This edible capsule stays in the stomach for about 30 days. It releases medications by connecting to the patient’s smartphone. The limited connectivity guarantees patient security. The capsule is able to sense its environment and host sensors. The testing was done on pigs; human trials would follow soon. This smart capsule can be used for efficient drug delivery.
